Haikus for a Homecoming

The sun came right out

Illuminating the trees

With their pink blossoms,

And wide green pastures,

Trembling in the soft breeze

Turning gray clouds white

And dark skies a blue.

While the river moved slow

And Spring came steady.

I sat in my chair

Fingers drumming the keyboard

And got real quiet,

Real contemplative

Just to hear the big bowl sing

The sounds of the earth

Rolling like marbles

In the mud dark rain puddles

And the rocky road

Among sycamores

Teeming with new honeybees

And blossoms eager.

I sank into space

Took a drink of warm water

And listened for the world.
